The Manomet Mystery Riders Down Rider Fund GuidelinesThe Down Rider Fund is a subsidiary group of the Manomet Mystery Riders. The Fund provides prompt, short-term financial assistance to Manomet Mystery Riders who have been injured while riding, so that they can keep a roof over their heads, food on the table, and have basic transportation to get to the doctor until they can get back on their feet again. This is a benefit, not a loan – the rider is not required to pay it back, although he or she may wish to once their financial circumstances permit. - In order to collect from the Fund, MMR Members must be in good standing prior to a motorcycle accident (paid dues).
- You must be a Down Rider Fund member in good standing prior to a motorcycle accident (paid dues).
- The Down Rider’s membership fee is $20 per year based on the calendar dates: January 1st to December 31 for all Down Rider Fund members.
- In order to collect from the Fund, you must have been involved in a motorcycle accident.
- You must provide proof of the accident (accident report).
- Incurred costs from the motorcycle accident must equal at least $500 in order to collect from the Fund.
- Maximum funds given out per motorcycle accident will not exceed $500.
- Funds will be given out until Fund is depleted.
- The Fund is only funded by its paying members, or if a fundraiser is held to raise funds specifically for the Down Rider Fund.
- Non-paid MMR members and non-paid Down Rider Fund members are not eligible for any money from the Fund.
- Funds given out do not have to be paid back to the Fund, it is a benefit.
- Funds in the Down Rider are managed by MMR Down Rider’s Fund Manager (currently Katherine McHenry).
- Down Rider funds are kept separate from the MMR treasury.
- Down Rider Fund member or their family member has 90-days from the date of the motorcycle accident to request funds. Down Rider benefits will be paid out within 30-days of request.
